On the fence – try it at least once before judging it!

Why Make This Cake
- You ran out of eggs but have mayo on hand.
- You have enjoyed an old fashioned chocolate mayonnaise cake in the past and want to relive the memories and flavors.
- Chocolate cake is a favorite and your interest is peaked by trying new variations.
- This is a simple homemade recipe that’s easy to whip up from time to time.

Ingredients Needed
- All-purpose flour
- Unsweetened cocoa
- Baking soda
- Salt
- Mayonnaise – we prefer regular over lite, to get the full flavor
- Vanilla extract

Step By Step Instructions
Preheat oven to 350℉.
Sift together cocoa, flour, baking soda and salt into a small bowl.
In a medium sized bowl beat sugar, mayo, water and vanilla.

Pour dry ingredients into the creamed mixture and stir together.

Pour into a greased 9 x 13″ baking dish and bake for about 25 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center is clean. Be sure not to over bake.
Let cool, add frosting and enjoy!

Recipe Tips
- Mayo has a similar effect that the sour cream does in our Cake Mix Cupcakes.
- The cake will bake and then fall a bit in the center, so you want spreadable frosting, but nothing too runny that will pool and be thick in the low spots.
