Ingredients Needed

  • All-purpose flour
  • Unsweetened cocoa
  • Baking soda
  • Salt
  • Mayonnaise – we prefer regular over lite, to get the full flavor
  • Vanilla extract
Ingredients to make mayo cake are cocoa, baking soda, all purpose flour, salt, sugar, mayonnaise, water and vanilla extract on a wooden counter top.

Step By Step Instructions

Preheat oven to 350℉.

Sift together cocoa, flour, baking soda and salt into a small bowl.

In a medium sized bowl beat sugar, mayo, water and vanilla.

Pour dry ingredients into the creamed mixture and stir together.

Pour into a greased 9 x 13″ baking dish and bake for about 25 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center is clean. Be sure not to over bake.

Let cool, add frosting and enjoy!

Recipe Tips

  • Mayo has a similar effect that the sour cream does in our Cake Mix Cupcakes
  • The cake will bake and then fall a bit in the center, so you want spreadable frosting, but nothing too runny that will pool and be thick in the low spots.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup water luke warm
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a small mixing bowl sift together cocoa, baking soda, flour and salt.
    1/2 cup cocoa, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda, 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • In a medium sized mixing bowl cream sugar, mayo, water and vanilla.
    1 cup granulated sugar, 3/4 cup mayonnaise, 1 cup water, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Stir together.
  • Pour in a greased 9 x 13" baking dish.
  • Bake in an oven preheated to 350℉ for approximately 25 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center just comes out clean.
  • Let cool and top with a batch of homemade chocolate frosting.
