Tropical Frozen Fruit Salad
Fruity, creamy and featuring a great mix of flavors, our Frozen Fruit Salad mixes strawberries, bananas and pineapple together to make a delightful treat.

Even though this fruit salad is alcohol free, it is also known as Champagne Salad because of the top-of-the-line richness. Much like our classic Orange Delight Salad, this is another timeless, old-fashioned recipe that I enjoy serving my family.
We love to set this frozen dish out to warm up for about an hour before serving. It is easier to enjoy and not as cold of a temperature contrast on our teeth.
The first time I made this recipe was to contribute to Graduation Party food table with a brunch theme. It was a big hit and several people asked for the recipe.

The same neighbors that shared this Chicken Casserole with Water Chestnuts and Oven Baked Chicken Breast Parmesan gave me the handwritten card featuring this recipe for tropical frozen fruit salad. This couple is well known for great cooking!
Ingredients Needed
- Frozen Strawberries – when partially defrosted are still very cold and help the salad set up a little faster than fresh berries which can be used. We prefer sliced or chopped strawberries as whole berries are too much to bite into.
- A Large Can of Pineapple – we used tidbits which give a more substantial flavor, but are more difficult to chew when frozen than crushed pineapple.
- Bananas – two fresh, perfectly ripe bananas that are not browning work well.
- Cream Cheese – can use a lite version to help cut calories if you prefer.
- Cool Whip – defrosted so it’s easy to fold in.
- Granulated Sugar – my neighbors always used a full cup, but we prefer cutting back and using 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup.
- Nuts – chopped pecans are our favorite with walnuts being in second place.

From our Honey Yogurt Popsicles to our Banana Lollipops, these refreshing treats are packed with fruit and help you cool off on a hot summer day. They all taste classy, but are so easy to make.
How To Make A Frozen Fruit Salad
Defrost the whipped topping and partially defrost the slices of frozen strawberries.
Also allow the cream cheese to soften and beat until smooth in a medium sized mixing bowl. Then beat in the sugar.
Drain pineapple and pour fruit into the salad. Stir again.

The fruit can be stirred in with a mixer or by hand. If the fruit is softened and broken up a bit while being mixed in that is no problem.

Spread in a 9 x 13″ pan or two smaller square pans. Cover tightly and freeze 8 hours to over night.

Allow the frozen fruit salad to defrost for about an hour before serving.
Recipe Tips and Tricks
- Drain any fruit to prevent watering down the rich cream cheese mixture that makes this enjoyable and almost ice cream like. I use the pineapple juice to make Hawaiian Chicken.
- We checked this fruit mixture after 4 hours and it was no where close to freezing through – making at least one day ahead of time is best.
- Reminiscent to a fun fruity drink served on a Disney Cruise or Disney’s Castaway Cay Island this could easily be made into a treat for adults.
