Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cake combines white chocolate and a light strawberry flavor with whipped topping, fresh strawberries, and hot fudge. This is a special dessert recipe that we crave all year around.

Our family LOVES chocolate covered strawberries. We have a family recipe for the Best Rich and Moist Chocolate Cake. We put a twist on that cake recipe to make the perfect cake for Valentine’s Day or other special occasions.

Easy Strawberry Cake

I’ve made this cake twice in the last week and our guests and our family couldn’t stop eating it.  I’m obsessed with how amazing these flavors all blend together in such an easy cake mix recipe!

When we want something special, but a little unique for birthdays we make this cake Glazed Rum Bundt Cake or Banana Lollipops.

The strawberry flavor and whipped topping make a light dessert and the white chocolate chips and pudding add the perfect sweetness.  

We love adding strawberries and hot fudge on individual pieces to customize the flavors even more!

Tips for Making Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cake

If spreading whipped topping over cake cool completely to prevent whipped topping from melting

If serving warm (which is delicious) served whipped topping and strawberries on the side and drizzle with hot fudge

Store in the refrigerator, but plan to use quickly

Keep the mixing process moving so the cake doesn’t have an extended period of time to set up like pudding prior to baking

Different brands of cake mix take different amounts of time to bake, so check early and often to avoid burning

Keep the cake moist by covering the cake with plastic wrap shortly after it’s been removed from the oven – this will help keep moisture in the keep as it cools.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cake Recipe

  1. Grease a 9 x 13 pan or 2-9 inch pans for a layered cake and preheat an oven to 350°F.
  2. Mix strawberry cake mix, vegetable oil, white chocolate pudding, eggs, sour cream and water.
  3. Fold in chocolate chips.
  4. Bake 30 – 45 minutes at 350°F until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Let cake cool or Cool Whip will melt.  Spread whipped topping over cooled cake.  Sprinkle with chopped strawberries and drizzle with hot fudge.

Ingredients
  

Cake

  • 1 box strawberry cake mix
  • 1 small package instant white chocolate pudding
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips

Toppings

  • 8 ounce whipped topping
  • 1 jar hot fudge
  • 1 1/2 cups strawberries chopped

Instructions
 

  • Mix cake ingredients and then fold in chocolate chips.
  • Use a 9 x 13 pan or 2-9 inch pans for a layered cake.  
  • Bake 30 – 45 minutes at 350 degrees F.  
  • Let cake cool.  Spread whipped topping over cooled cake.  Sprinkle with chopped strawberries and drizzle with hot fudge.

  1. Hello I couldn’t find the white chocolate pudding mix so I got the regular fudge, I was thinking of not putting it in but I did on accident and it looks like a chocolate cake now haha.
