A Warm and Flavorful Sub With Chicken
Hearty chicken surround by slices of cheese and bacon slathered with ranch and topped with lettuce and tomato makes a delicious Chicken Bacon Ranch Sub! Very similar to the Subway melt when toasted this is a fast, family friendly dinner.
Similar to many of our delicious sliders like our Ham and Cheese Sliders and our Italian BMT Sliders we like to use sliced deli meat. However, leftover shredded or small cubes of leftover chicken works great on this sub too!
Start with foot long subs that have some cheese baked into the top and cut in half to make faster 6 inch subs.
How to Make a Chicken Bacon Ranch Sub
Served as a traditional sandwich or an open-faced sub with chicken, bacon, cheese and ranch – warm and packed with flavor is always wonderful!
Open up two foot long sub buns and slather both sides of the bun with a layer of ranch dressing.
Then arrange chicken on a thick layer on the bottom bun.
Add layers of cheese and bacon.
If you like an extra meaty sub, you can double the amount of meat or add a layer of ham on top of the cheese.
Set sub in an oven preheated to 350℉ for 10 to 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bun is toasted.
Remove from the heat and add lettuce and slices of tomato.
Optional – top with some additional Sweet Onion Teriyaki Sauce like the Subway favorite to enhance the sub even more.
Recipe Tips and Tricks
- We like to make a big batch of chicken in the Instant Pot and cut the extras into cubes for recipes like this. Having small cubes of chicken on hand makes for so many versatile meals. Chicken cooks in about 10 minutes on high pressure in a pressure cooker. Be sure to allow at least 15 minutes of natural release time.
- We’ve experimented with barbecue sauce and Italian dressing in this recipe and we enjoy them all, but ranch dressing is our favorite. Dare I admit that I didn’t even think I liked ranch dressing until a few recipes like this where it just adds a really nice creaminess to the dish!
- This is a perfect meal for life on the go. Whether it’s to a farm field or eating on the way to the soccer field. This home-cooked meal is super easy and tastes great! We also love that it’s so easy to customize with different sauces for different tastes without too much trouble.
An Open Faced Version
Loaves of garlic bread are also very versatile. Cook the garlic bread about 75% of the time given on the instructions. Cook long enough to get it warmed through, but not yet crispy and toasty on the edges.
Then sprinkle with cubed cooked chicken, pieces of bacon, ranch dressing, and cheese. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning if desired. Return to the oven until the ingredients are warmed through, the cheese is melted and the bread is the desired crispiness.
