Since part of our livelihood as farmers comes from raising animals we always have plenty of beef and especially ground beef.  We are grateful for the opportunity to raise pork, beef and turkey and we’ve always eaten what we produce.  So, we enjoyed making this twist on classic tacos from our ground beef.

A similar recipe that wraps up the taco meat in crescent dough is our Taco Crescents. Both are wonderful served with a Mangonada Recipe as a refreshing Mexican mixed drink.

Ingredients Needed:

  • Refrigerated crescent roll dough – Pillsbury or the store brand work fine.
  • Ground beef – lean meat is our preference.
  • Taco seasoning mix – follow the instructions on the package to season the beef.
  • Ketchup – adds extra moisture and flavor to the pie.
  • Cheese – we like a blend of Mexican cheese or cheddar cheese, but the kids enjoy American cheese.
  • Lettuce – a bag of pre-shredded iceberg is easiest, but Romaine also works well.
  • Tomato – cherry tomatoes are our favorite
  • Sour Cream – is an optional garnish as well as avocado, green chiles and salsa.

This was delicious! Made it last night, added a bottom layer of my home-made black bean dip and some thin tortilla chips. We will definitely have it again!
