Potato Chip Dip Recipe

This cream cheese potato chip dip recipe is rich and thick! Cream cheese dip taste so good with plain potato chips with ridges or the wavy style. The ridges fill with dip to make a great snack for game day or appetizer for a party.

Just like our Homemade Burger Sauce or Farmhouse BBQ Sauce, making this simple chip dip is an easy way to add a little extra flavor and fun to your party.

Ketchup and a little bit of French dressing are added to cream cheese along with minced onion and salt for maximum seasoning. A couple tablespoons of milk, cream or half and half are used to help blend the chip dip together and make is smooth. The mix of ingredients creates an orange colored chip dip.

The first time I made this was for a family birthday party. People enjoyed the dip, but couldn’t guess the ingredients. Surprisingly this dip is made without sour cream, but still has all of the flavor you hope for to enhance potato chips.

This is definitely the best chip dip with cream cheese we’ve eaten!

How To Make Potato Chip Dip

Add softened cream cheese to a mixing bowl and beat well to ensure there are no lumps.

For the smoothest dip try to set out ketchup or other cold ingredients for about 30 minutes to allow to take the chill off of.

Add remaining ingredients to the mixing bowl and mix well. Beat until smooth.

Use a spatula to clean edges of the bowl and transfer to a serving bowl. Store in the refrigerator until 30 minutes before serving. Serve with rippled, wavy, or plain chips with ridges.

What To Serve Chips and Dip In

We typically grab one of the smallest bowls or child’s bowls in the house to put our dip in. Finding a dish with a lid is even more practical in case there’s leftovers.

For a party where presentation is important a plastic chip and dip tray is perfect. Ordering a multi-pack is nice to have dishes that match on the table. A simple plastic tray is also great to use for a Fruit Tray or Vegetable Tray.

A platter with a small bowl set in the center as pictured also works well!
