Similar to our Chicken Chili with Salsa, the tomato flavor isn’t as prominent as you expect. Garnish with fresh chopped tomatoes and parsley for a brighter flavor that tastes even more like a real cheeseburger. If you love pickles then garnish with relish for a more complex combination of flavors.

Ingredients Needed

  • Hamburger – The meaty base, can substitute sausage but will lose the cheeseburger essence.
  • Velveeta Cheese – The creamy, cheesy part that makes this dippable and amazing.
  • Salsa – Use mild, medium or hot to easily adjust to your preference.
  • Onions – Yellow, sweet or white all work when chopped. The tomatoes and onions create the familiar taste in a cheeseburger.
  • Cream of Onion Soup – Adds to the richness and creaminess of this appetizer.
Ingredients to make cheeseburger dip are Velveeta cheese, salsa, chopped onion, ground beef and cream of onion soup on a wooden counter top.

How To Make Slow Cooker Cheeseburger Dip

Brown the ground beef and drain well. Add onions to the skillet and cook over medium high heat until they are translucent and tender. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Add all ingredients to the crock pot to melt and blend together for 2 hours on high or 3 hours on low.

Stir 2 to 3 times and once the cheese is smooth and melted turn to keep warm and stir a couple times per hour.

Recipe Tips and Tricks

  • Heat on low for about 20 minutes on the stove top or bake at 300°F if you prefer not to use a slow cooker.
  • Browning the onions before adding to the slow cooker adds more flavor. As we learned when testing our Sauerkraut and Kielbasa brown is a flavor, not just a color.
  • Bacon bits are a great addition.
  • Instead of using a slow cooker, this dip can be smoked on a pellet grill too!
