Chicken is a very versatile meat that can showcase so many flavors so well. We love the combination of bacon and sharp cheddar with either ranch or BBQ sauce. We enjoy mixing those two flavors to create even more excitement for our taste buds in a delicious meal!

Using shredded chicken or shredding leftover Baked Parmesan Chicken Tenders allows for maximum flavor distribution around every piece of meat. Melted cheese and crumbles of bacon can settle nicely among every small piece of chicken.

We love how BBQ sauce adds so much flavor to these chicken sliders as well as our BBQ Pork Sliders. Sometimes we use a bottle from the store and sometimes we make a batch of Farmhouse BBQ Sauce. Either way the BBQ sauce compliments ranch dressing in these sliders.

Sliced lunchmeat can be used like in our Turkey, Bacon & Cheddar Sliders. Those sliders have a sweeter glaze with more brown sugar glaze and poppy seeds. That glaze could be used in place of this glaze if you have a sweet tooth.

Chicken makes a great base for so many meals. We’ll often use leftover grilled or baked chicken breasts from a recipe like our Chicken & Berries Salad, Garlic Baked Chicken or leftover rotisserie chicken. Meat is easiest to shred when warm, so I try to plan ahead for shredded chicken sliders in advance of making them.

We have several Hawaiian roll slider recipes that are popular from our Ham, Swiss & Ranch Sliders to Italian BMT Sliders, Mushroom Swiss Burger Sliders and Pepperoni Pizza Sliders. We find sliders are just easier to make and eat than full-size sandwiches.

Chicken Bacon Ranch Sliders

We began mixing Chicken, Bacon and Ranch on garlic bread and absolutely love the flavors, so making sliders on sweet Hawaiian rolls only makes sense.

I typically use 1/4 cup of ranch on the bottom slider roll, but extra ranch can easily be added to the top layer of sliders too for all the ranch lovers.

As a cheese lover I think cheddar cheese really enhances the chicken, bacon and ranch flavors to make a more ultimate slider. We like these flavors better with pulled chicken or a whole chicken breast than with slices of lunchmeat.

We tend to cook with fresh chicken more often, but just like our Buffalo Chicken Roll-ups, these flavors also work well with canned chicken.

Tips for Making Sliders

  • If you love ranch double the amount and add a layer on the top and bottom rolls
  • Use a long bread knife to cut the Hawaiian rolls in half
  • Toasting rolls is optional, but does add a little flavor and helps prevent rolls from getting soggy with the ranch and BBQ sauces
  • 1 pound of shredded chicken roughly equals 2 cups which roughly equals a 14.5 ounce can of chicken which should be drained and fluffed with a fork before heating and adding BBQ sauce
  • I like using shredded cheese with shredded meat and slices of cheese with slices of meat
  • Bacon bits or cooked and chopped bacon both work well in this recipe
  • I like to use this non-stick mat on top of my favorite baking sheet for easy clean-up
  • A sharp, serrated knife works well to cut the sliders apart or you can go freestyle and just pull them apart
  • Sliders taste best warm, but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated for a quick and easy lunch

Pop into the oven at 350°F for 5 to 10 minutes to allow the bacon to heat up, cheese to melt and glaze to caramelize just a bit and help brown the rolls on top.
