Peanut butter is mixed with cream cheese, powdered sugar and whipped topping and then spread in a prepared graham cracker crust.  This recipe is so easy the kiddos can make it!

A thick crushed Oreo crust held together with rich melted butter perfectly frames this no-bake Oreo peanut butter pie. Simply crush up about 22 Oreos and stir in half a stick of melted butter. Press the crust into the bottom of a pie pan and spread the luscious peanut butter filling on top.

We absolutely love the chocolate and peanut butter contrast in this pie as well as in our Peanut Butter Balls, Peanut Butter S’mores Cake, and our Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies.

My husband remembers an uncle bringing a peanut butter pie to family holiday gatherings as a kid.  He recalls that pie is really rich and heavy.  Our family enjoys this recipe because it is a lighter peanut butter pie that is still delicious!

My mom saved the recipe section from the newspaper decades ago.  This cream pie recipe is a keeper because it seriously takes ten minutes or less to whip up if the cream cheese is softened and the whipped topping has been thawed.

Easier Than Amish Peanut Butter Pie

I love visiting Holmes County Ohio, also known as Amish Country.  The rolling hills, large homes without electricity and farm equipment without rubber tires are fascinating to take in.  When we get the chance to make a trip another highlight is the distinct style of food.  Peanut butter cream pie is often on the menu at good Amish restaurants.

This is the closest version of an Amish cream pie that I’ve made at home.  The prepared graham cracker crust is the only difference and for the time saved, frankly, I think the difference is minuscule.  Ten minutes – other than our Quick Cherry Cheesecake there are not many pie recipes that can be made in ten minutes!

Tips for Making Peanut Butter Cream Pie

  • Planning ahead is key to being able to mix up this pie in ten minutes
  • Soften cream cheese for easy mixing and to maintain a smooth, creamy pie
  • Thaw cool whip for easy mixing and to create a smooth, even consistency
  • Prepare a homemade Oreo pie crust, or purchase an Oreo or graham cracker pie crust
  • Invert the clear cover on top of a prepared pie crust to use as the pie covering
  • Garnish with strawberries, chocolate shavings or chopped mini Reese’s peanut butter cups
  • Pie can be served immediately, but it will be easier to cut clean pieces after refrigerating for at least an hour

Homemade Oreo Crust

The best no-bake peanut butter pie sits on a no-bake Oreo crust that only takes 10 minutes to make.

A homemade Oreo crust is made by crushing Oreos in a food processor. Fine, evenly shaped particles are mixed with 4 tablespoons of melted butter and pressed into a pie pan using your fingers or the bottom of a glass or flat measuring cup.

The number of Oreos used in the crust are determined by the size of the plate and the desired thickness of the crust. I found 22 Oreos work great in a 9″ pie plate.

How to Make Oreo Peanut Butter Pie

  1. Crush Oreos in a food processor and mix in melted butter.
  2. Using an electric mixer beat cream cheese, peanut butter and confections sugar together. Begin with mixer on low so sugar doesn’t pop out of the bowl.
  3. Stir in thawed whipped topping and pour into crust.

How Long Does No Bake Peanut Butter Pie Last?

Since this recipe contains frozen whipped topping the quality is best when eaten within two days.  Be sure to keep refrigerated for food safety and to help prolong the life of the whipped topping.

Outstanding. Rich and creamy. I used Golden Oreo Sandwich Cookies for the crust which enhanced the peanut butter flavor.
