Each year I find myself looking for fun and easy treats for my kids’ Valentine party at school. I like to take a snack that most kids enjoy, is easy to make and isn’t too expensive.
So, crispy rice cereal treats are always a winner. This year we’re going to step up our game by adding Valentine M&Ms and using a cookie cutter to make heart-shaped treats.
Fun and Easy Valentine Treats for Kids
Cereal is one of the most popular foods in my house. So when you add marshmallows and candy this is how we win the kids hearts! Carb loaded foods in general seem to be winners with growing kids. Our Easy Valentine Drop Candy is loaded with pretzels, marshmallows and candy.
Whatever kind of treat or fun food we make we like it to be quick and these rice crispy treats fit the bill!
A similar no-bake recipe that’s easy to add M&Ms or other candy to is our No-Bake Cornflake Cookies. Our family loves making easy no-bake desserts!
Tips for Easy Valentine Treats
- Wet your fingers to smooth out the treats in the pan.
- A thin layer of treats is much easier to cut with a cookie cutter.
- Candy on the treats is like icing on a cake, it’s just a great addition!
- Using a cookie cutter takes a little time, so just cut squares if you’re up against a deadline.
- Get the kids involved so you get to have quality time together.
- Stir chocolate candy into the cereal mixture and remove from pan as quickly as possible to avoid melting the chocolate.
- Reserve some candy to sprinkle on top and then press into the treats with wetted fingers if desired.
- We like to order cookie cutter from Amazon, here are some heart shaped cookie cutters.
Elementary School Valentine Party Food
As a working parent, I always try to take time off to be at school parties. They’re fun, it’s a chance to be around my kid a little more and there’s only a few of them each year in elementary school. Since I enjoy cooking I like to bring along a snack that kids actually want to eat. These treats are cute, easy and small enough that kids actually eat them along with some other snacks.
If you want to be a parent that brings cute and functional food, this is your recipe!
Rice Crispy treats are a favorite party food in our house because adults like them too. When a recipe wins with all ages we make it several times over and these treats are on that list!

Hi! How much of the candy do you recommend? A whole bag for this recipe?
Hey There! Good question! I typically use about one cup of candy. But you can easily adjust to meet your preference. Hope you enjoy 🙂
