Little kid parties are the best!  I love watching for new themes and ideas and unicorn parties and unicorn treats are really popular right now.  So, I combined a couple of my favorite recipes to make this easy unicorn food idea.

My favorite easy treat for kids is making rice crispy treats, so I modified my classic recipe by using the Lucky Charms special edition cereal with Unicorns and added Funmallows for more color and flavor and marshmallow creme like my friend did here at Beyer Beware did here.

Easy Unicorn Treats Recipe

I’ve been watching my family eat multiple batches, so I’m 100% positive that kids love these easy unicorn treats!  I don’t know if real unicorns actually eat these treats.  In full disclosure, I’ve never seen a real unicorn, but from what I know about farm animals I’m pretty confident that unicorns would love these!

In the category of things, I never thought I would say to my kids is, “Pick the unicorn and rainbow marshmallows out of the Lucky Charms to sprinkle on top.”  This is a job that kids love to help with!  And the special marshmallows are a lot more fun sprinkled on top than mixed in the unicorn food cereal bars.

We make snack time or a little at home party even more fun by mixing up this unicorn inspired drink to enjoy along with the treats.

How to Make Lucky Charms Cereal Treats

  1. Over medium heat melt butter in a large six-quart dutch oven.
  2. Once the butter starts to melt, add the marshmallow creme.
  3. Over low heat, stir to combine.  When butter and marshmallow creme are combined add 5 ounces of regular mini marshmallows.  Continue stirring.
  4. When the marshmallows are nearly melted remove from heat and add the cereal two to three cups at a time.
  5. With just a few cups left, add the Funmallows and then stir in the remaining cereal.
  6. Pour into a 9×13 pan or a larger lasagna pan.  Wet hands and smooth out the top or pat down with the butter wrapper.  Let cool before cutting and serving.

Tips For Making Unicorn Treats

  • Mini marshmallows melt the quickest, but any shape of marshmallow can be used
  • Wet your fingers to smooth out the treats in the pan.
  • Cookie cutters could be used to make unicorn-shaped treats – a thin layer of cereal bars is much easier to cut with a cookie cutter.
  • Get the kids involved so you get to have quality time together.
This is a fun food idea for a unicorn party! This easy unicorn food idea is sure to be a hit with kids and fun adults!

Can you make these the night before or do they get stale?
