Oreo Rice Krispies Recipe

Seeing crushed Oreos sprinkled on top and stirred into the Rice Krispie bars makes your mouth water. I think it’s the white chocolate chips that make your taste buds smile to make this dessert so memorable.

Amazing and delicious!  The first time I made these my son had a friend over.  Several people tried a treat throughout the day and everyone loved it!  The pan barely lasted a day, they are just SO good!  I love the flavor that the white chocolate adds in the marshmallow cream that holds everything together.

Variations of crispy rice cereal and melted marshmallows are very popular treats to buy at the store, but they are so cheap and easy to make at home. This is the kind of recipe that is easy to memorize and alter a little bit based on what ingredients you have on hand.

While we’ve got Oreos in the house we love making this Oreo Dirt Cake too!

Rice Krispie Treats Variations

We’re always looking for a fun snack for school parties, potlucks, snacks for sports teams, church meals, hosting friends and more.  There’s always a box or tow rice crispy cereal in the pantry.

Depending on the season we’ve made cereal bars special for Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween and for a Unicorn Party food idea.  This easy cookies and cream dessert and rice crispy treat is great any day of the year!

It’s no secret that we enjoy making variations of rice crispy treats at our house and this is the BEST twist that we’ve ever made!  There’s so much great flavor and it’s so easy to make for a cookies and cream dessert!

Tips and Tricks

  • Wet clean fingers to quickly spread out and flatten rice crispy treats on pan
  • Have all ingredients measured out and be prepared to work quickly when marshmallows are melted
  • Crush Oreos in a gallon sized bag by gently tapping a rolling pin to break up the pieces
  • The whole batch makes a thick treat, but some of the cereal bar mixture can be patted into a separate pan to make more thinner treats to help with portion control or to feed a crowd

Can Oreo Crumbs Stick to Rice Krispie Treats?

There is a brief period of time when the cereal and marshmallows come off of the heat where the marshmallows are melted and sticky.

When the marshmallows are still warm is the best time to stir in Oreo crumbs or sprinkle them on top of the treats so they’ll stick. Gently press pieces of Oreos to maximize contact with warm marshmallow cream to help the pieces stick better.

Smaller pieces of cookies are easier to get to stick to the Oreo Rice Krispie Treats than larger pieces.

Ingredients needed:

  • Rice Krispie cereal
  • Butter
  • Mini Marshmallows
  • Oreos
  • White chocolate chips

How to Make Oreo Rice Krispies

In a medium sized pot melt butter over medium heat and stir in mini marshmallows. Stir often.
