Apple Dapple Cake Recipe

This old fashioned Apple Dapple Cake is the perfect recipe for freshly picked apples.

Prep the batter and bake about an hour before ready to serve. Then mix up the caramel glaze and pour over just before serving. Your guests will enjoy this vintage apple cake recipe.

Picking and peeling apples is a great activity for young kids.  I enjoy making this cake with my kids. We hook our apple peeler and corer onto our step stool outside to prep the apples. Working outside makes things more relaxed as clean-up is so much easier.

How to Make Apple Dapple Cake

Preheat oven to 325°F.  Grease and flour a 9 x 13 inch cake pan.

Combine sugar and eggs.  Beat well.  Add oil and cream mixture.

Slowly add flour, baking soda and cinnamon.  Stir well.  Gently fold in chunks of apples and nuts if desired.

Pour into cake pan and bake 40 – 50 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center of the cake.

We enjoy the cake served warm or at room temperature.

  1. I just found your blog, and am going to make this cake, but I wanted to point out a typo in the glaze ingredients, and make sure I make it right. The recipe lists 1/2 cup brown sugar, then 4T brown sugar. I’m sure it should be 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 4T BUTTER, but could you please verify? Thanks!

Yes, you are correct! I’ll get that fixed right away. Thanks for the note 🙂
