Why You’ll Love This Banana Split Pie Recipe

We tested several versions of this no-bake pie, including fillings made with pudding and cream cheese.

Our quality control samplers preferred the cream cheese version, which gives the pie a richer flavor, creamier texture and more of a cheesecake like taste. The fruit flavors are more prominent in this version too.

Feel free to add whatever toppings your like to the whole pie or to your individual piece. This no-bake pie makes it easy to customize and be creative!

What I Love:

  • Best enjoyed fresh: This pie is best eaten right away, but both the pudding and cream cheese filling held up surprisingly well overnight, even with the fresh fruit.
  • Drain the pineapple well: Excess liquid can seep into the filling as the pie sits, so be sure to drain the pineapple thoroughly. The juice can be used to dip bananas in to keep from browning.
  • Wait to garnish: For the best presentation, add the garnishes just before serving.
  • Family-approved: My family really enjoyed these pies, even the leftovers!
  • Make a bigger portion: A similar dessert that we love is our Strawberry Banana Split Cake if you’ve got more friends to feed.

Ingredients Needed to Make A No-Bake Banana Split Pie:

  • Graham Cracker Crust – a 9 inch prepared crust works great
  • Cream Cheese – we prefer Philadelphia for a premium flavor
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Whipped Topping – you are welcome to use whipping cream for a richer flavor
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Bananas – 2 or 3 large ripe bananas that are sweet, but not too ripe are best
  • Strawberries
  • Crushed Pineapple
  • Toppings – Chocolate syrup, maraschio cherries, chopped nuts
Ingredients to make Banana Split Pie are ripe bananas, prepared graham cracker crust, Cool Whip, cream cheese, chocolate syrup, chopped nuts, vanilla, crushed pineapple, strawberries, cherries and sugar on a wooden counter top.

How To Make A Banana Pie

Using an electric mixer and a medium sized bowl beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar and vanilla; beat again until smooth.

Using a silicone spatula, gently fold in 4 ounces or half of the whipped topping. Spread into the bottom of the graham cracker crust.

Slice the bananas over top of the cream cheese filling. Then spoon the well drained crushed pineapple evenly over the bananas.

Next arrange a layer of sliced strawberries over the pineapple.

Top with remaining Cool Whip. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

I like to place the pie on a level spot in the freezer for about an hour before serving. Don’t freeze it solid, just chill it a little more than the refrigerator to make slicing and serving easier.

Topping Ideas for a Banana Split Pie

  • Chopped Nuts – walnuts or pecans are our favorite
  • Caramel Sauce
  • Coconut
  • Marshmallow Topping

Can customize with sprinkles for a birthday dessert or make a red, white and blue 4th of July dessert recipe by using blueberries and strawberry topping.

Jennifer’s Recipe Tip

Cut and serve the pieces of pie then let each guest drizzle their sauce of choice and toppings over their own piece. It’s super easy to do and makes each serving more personalized and visually satisfying.
