Spaghetti Pizza Casserole is one of our all-time favorite family meals because it is a combination of the basics, spaghetti and pizza!

Pepperoni, cheese and pizza sauce on a spaghetti crust is food that kids will eat and it’s super easy to make!  This recipe is great for big family meals or tastes great reheated for work or school lunches throughout the week.

Spaghetti Pizza Recipe

This Spaghetti Pizza if for families like mine that need EASY pasta meals that everyone can enjoy!  Farmhouse Crock Pot Spaghetti and Air Fryer Pizza Sliders are regulars on our menu.  This spaghetti pizza is the perfect combination of the two!

My kids would eat spaghetti or any shape of plain noodles for every meal.  Correction, if they planned the family menu without guidance they would want pancakes and Stromboli once in a while too.  Please tell me I’m not alone with these carb addicted children?

Don’t get me wrong, Mac & Cheese with Ham, Tuscan Chicken & Spaghetti and Creamy Chicken Pasta Casserole are other regular pasta dishes on our menu, but we do work really hard to eat a balanced diet including all of the food groups.  But without a little planning and adult supervision, the kids would eat pasta at least 15 times a week.

9 x 13 pan of spaghetti pizza with spaghetti on a fork

My husband’s Godfather and uncle shared this recipe with us.  He’s got four grown kids and shared that they made this pizza and spaghetti meal combination at least once a week for their family dinner because it’s so simple!

I’ve seen all of his kids at family parties.  They’re all healthy, well-nourished and eat a variety of foods.  So this is proof that we can feed our kids lots of pasta and they will willingly eat a variety of other foods as adults.

This meal could easily be made into a Lenten Casserole like our Hearty Pasta Bake by replacing the meat with veggies.  There are so many options to mix up this basic meal!  Our Homemade Instant Pot Spaghetti Sauce is another way to kick this recipe up a notch over using a jar of sauce.

  • Mozarella Cheese
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Garlic Powder
  • Salt
  • Spaghetti Sauce
  • Oregano
  • Pepperoni

How to Make Pizza with a Spaghetti Crust

  1. Make spaghetti crust by mixing eggs, milk, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, garlic powder and salt together
  2. Cook and drain spaghetti. The spaghetti can be returned to the large pot to mix up the crust.
  3. Add cheese and egg mixture and stir well. Spread into greased 15 x 10 x 1 jelly roll pan.
  4. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes.
  5. Make pizza topping by combining pasta sauce and oregano. Spread evenly over baked spaghetti.
  6. Sprinkle on remaining cheese. Add pepperoni in an even layer on top.
  7. Bake 30 minutes and let stand 5 minutes before cutting.

Can I Use a 9 x 13 Pan?

This recipe can be made in a 9×13 baking dish, but it is thicker which means increasing cooking time. Also know the layers will slide around a bit more during the serving process.

Does Ground Beef Work In This Recipe?

Ground beef works fine in spaghetti pizza, we like to add some seasonings like garlic salt, Italian seasoning or oregano and granulated garlic. Add the ground beef as an extra layer between the spaghetti mixture and cheese layer or stir into the spaghetti.

Tips for Making Spaghetti Pizza Casserole

  • We prefer angel hair spaghetti cooked in water that is well seasoned with salt
  • Spaghetti that is broken in half or in thirds is easiest to stir, cut and serve
  • Pepperoni can easily be substituted for sausage
  • Meal can be made spicy by adding toppings that bring the heat
  • Make this pasta meal into a Lenten Casserole by replacing the pepperonis with sliced onions and chopped bell peppers
  • Push sauce and toppings as close to the edge of the spaghetti as possible without making them run over the edge
  • Add a layer of grated parmesan cheese for even more flavor

How to Store Spaghetti Pizza

Let this casserole cool and then store covered tightly, in an airtight container or ziplock bag in the refrigerator for up to 3 – 5 days.  We like to cut into individual pieces and place in smaller serving containers before refrigerating.  Then when someone needs a quick meal their serving is ready to go.  Our son love packing pieces of the spaghetti casserole in his school lunch.

Can you Freeze Spaghetti Casserole

Yes!  A cool casserole can be frozen in the original pan or cut into individual servings to freeze.  Freeze in an airtight container or ziplock bag.

This casserole makes a great freezer meal.  Sometimes I like to add a little extra sauce or cheese when reheating to make a great reheated meal.

I took a couple slight liberties with this, but I’m very pleased with how it turned out! I made this to give away, and did not have a jelly roll pan that I could part with. I ended up putting it in a 13-in by 21-in aluminum pan. To compensate on the crust, I made a little extra spaghetti. Terrific!
