Why This Cinnamon Bread French Toast Recipe Works:
- Adds protein to breakfast in a way my kids enjoy eating
- Reheats well
- Can be made ahead of time and reheated quickly for a budget friendly breakfast
- I make a whole loaf for meal prep and heat a slice or two for my kids in the morning
Ingredients Needed:
- Cinnamon Swirl Bread
- Eggs
- Milk
- Vanilla
Step By Step Instructions
In a small mixing bowl beat eggs. Add milk and vanilla and whisk together.
Dip 3 to 4 slices of bread in egg mixture. Let it soak in for 2 to 3 minutes.
Preheat a large skillet to medium high heat. Once skillet is hot add two pats of butter and tilt pan to spread evenly over the bottom.
Quickly add as many slices of bread coated in egg mixture in a single layer in the skillet as will fit.
If there’s a little extra egg left in the dish I like to pour it over top of the slices of bread.
Cook 3 to 5 minutes on the first side, once it begins to brown, quickly flip each piece once and cook about half as long – 1 to 2 minutes on the second side.
Once each side is lightly browned and the egg is cooked, serve warm with a drizzle of syrup.
For extra decadence, sprinkle with powdered sugar and add another thin pat of butter on each slice.
