I made these fun and easy unicorn food ideas on my birthday to get a break from work and enjoy a moment with my kids.  Unicorns are all the rage right now, so we had snack time with a fun and easy unicorn theme.

Impromptu Unicorn Birthday Treat

I was home working all day with my daughter and when my son got off the bus from school we decided to take a break and have a fun little unicorn treat.  Why make a magical unicorn treat?  Because now I’m closer to 40 than 30, so whether it’s a unicorn or pretending to be a Disney princess, why not enjoy a little magic in life?  I’ll only feel older if I allow it to happen!

A milkshake with rich and delicious vanilla ice cream is my favorite treat.  The kids were jazzed up about a birthday, so being the ultra trendy person that I am {sarcasm font} I thought of a way to combine my favorite treat with something hip, magical, fun and easy.  And because I still want my kids to like me as I age, we added sprinkles.

I found some vanilla ice cream in the freezer and I sat it out on the counter long enough to get pretty soft.  I dipped the ice cream out into cups for each of us, added milk and stirred by hand.  Add a layer of sprinkles if it’s your birthday.  Otherwise just add whipped cream and sprinkles on top to save calories.  {More sarcasm on the calorie comment}.

As I’ve shared before cereal treats are our favorite for a special occasion.  Whether it’s for a Halloween Party, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, or for a basic unicorn party.  So we whipped up another batch of Unicorn treats to enjoy with our Unicorn drinks.  These treats call for Lucky Charms special edition cereal with Unicorns and I add Funmallows for more color and flavor.

What Color is Unicorn Food?

In my youth unicorns were always white with a colorful mane and tail.  It appears unicorns in this century have a lot more sparkles and glitter, but I’m old school so we kept it basic and used the star sprinkles and marshmallows we had on hand.  As I reflect it all makes a lot of sense to use my favorite vanilla ice cream in a unicorn milkshake.

Well that’s it, if you read this and know me you realize I may have lost my mind on my birthday, but we did have a fun treat with dessert first!  Then my husband wrapped up his work on the farm and took us out for dinner!  I hope your birthday is filled with ice cream, fun unicorn treats and sprinkles just like mine!
