A Simple and Savory Asian Broccoli Recipe

As we tested this recipe the aroma filled the kitchen to draw the family in and we ate the whole batch before dinner was ready. This simple, Asian inspired spin on broccoli creates a unique and irresistible vegetable.

Inspired by our Asian Asparagus, this is a another simple green vegetable that is ready in under 15 minutes and only takes 5 simple ingredients.

Chop into bite size pieces of broccoli. After cooking until crisp tender, coat with this wonderful sauce and serve with chicken and rice, a steak, pork chop or another simple main dish.

Ingredients Needed

  • Fresh Broccoli
  • Oil – olive oil or vegetable oil
  • Garlic – fresh or in a jar works well
  • Ginger – fresh ginger is best, but a jar of minced ginger can save time
  • Soy Sauce – regular or low sodium
Ingredients to make Asian broccoli are two bunches of broccoli, olive oil, ginger, garlic and soy sauce on a wooden counter top.

Follow These Easy Steps

Rinse broccoli and chop into small, bite sized pieces.

Heat oil in a skillet on medium heat then add garlic and saute for 1 to 2 minutes. Add ginger and stir.

Then add broccoli, stir and cover.

Cook until the broccoli is crisp, but also tender. Stir 2 to 3 times.

Add soy sauce and stir again. Remove from the heat and serve as soon as the sauce simmers.

Serve immediately and enjoy!

Recipe Tips and Tricks

  • We enjoy the base recipe, but you can garnish the Asian Broccoli recipe with toasted almonds or sesame seeds to create other variations.
  • Ensure broccoli is fresh and firm. If the head is starting to turn brown or drying out the recipe will not turn out well.
  • Watch the heat setting – through experimenting we found that medium heat cooks quickly, but medium high will burn the veggies quickly.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups broccoli chopped
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ginger chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

Instructions

  • Rinse and prepare broccoli by chopping into small, bite sized pieces.
    6 cups broccoli
  • Heat oil in a skillet on medium heat and saute garlic for 1 to 2 minutes. Add ginger and stir.
    3 tablespoons olive oil, 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • Add broccoli and stir occasionally until the vegetable is crisp, yet also tender. If the skillet gets dry you may need to add another 1 to 2 teaspoons of oil.
    2 tablespoons fresh ginger
  • Add soy sauce, stir well and remove from the heat as soon as the sauce simmers. Stir again and serve immediately.
    2 tablespoons soy sauce
