3 Musketeers Cake is the perfect dessert for people who LOVE cake and Three Musketeers candy bars!  My husband craves 3 Musketeers Bars, so this is the perfect creamy chocolate cake with more creamy chocolate icing spread on top!

9 x 13 cake made with 3 Musketeers candy bars with icing made from more candy bars.

Easy 3 Musketeers Candy Bar Dessert

When you love creamy chocolate 3 Musketeers Candy Bars nothing is better than a cake that has candy bars that is then iced with more candy bars. How could dessert get any better?

Once in a while on a road trip we’ll stop at a gas station and everyone gets to pick out their favorite candy bar.  My husband ALWAYS goes for 3 Musketeers!  At trick-or-treat it’s a guarantee that he’s going to rummage through the kids candy and confiscate the 3 Musketeers bars.  So when I made this Milk Way Cake out of my favorite candy bar and it tasted so good I knew that I needed to adapt it so that we could enjoy his favorite candy bar in a cake!

Making a smooth icing took a little practice and patience.  Stick with it until you reach success.

We noticed that each time we’ve made this cake the center rectangle seems to separate a bit from the outer rectangle.  Don’t worry, it tastes great!

If you’ve checked out many of our recipes you know we love all of the variations of candy bar cakes.  More recently I’ve made this Snickers Bar Cake for his birthday party and it was also a hit!

3 Musketeers Cake Icing

As the 3 Musketeers candy bars are melting, if the icing isn’t smooth add a little milk and keep stirring and heating the mixture.  Pour the icing over the cake while everything is still warm.

While the icing was warm I gently tilted the cake in each direction to get full coverage of icing.  Cover with plastic wrap and let it all cool together.  We made this cake once and the icing wasn’t quite smooth, but it still tasted great!

TIPS FOR MAKING 3 MUSKETEERS CAKE

This creamy chocolate cake is one of our favorites because it calls for real 3 Musketeers candy bars!  Here are some tips for a delicious cake:

  • Have all ingredients measured and ready before beginning each portion of the recipe.
  • Don’t rush the melting of the candy bars.  Low heat to medium-low heat and steady stirring wins the melting race.  It would be a shame to burn the candy bars!
  • Pour warm icing on a warm cake.
  • Cover with plastic wrap to maintain maximum moistness.
  • Cool before serving.

Cake

  • 6 3 Musketeer Candy Bars regular size

  • Melt together butter and 3 Musketeers bars in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir often to avoid burning.
  • Measure remaining ingredients and have ready in a mixing bowl. Add melted candy bars. Mix well.
  • Bake at 300 degrees for 45 to 55 minutes. Prepare icing; spread over cake

Icing

  • Melt together butter and 3 Musketeers candy bars in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir often to avoid burning
  • Add vanilla and powdered sugar; stir until smooth. If desired, add milk to get to spreading consistency. Spread over cake.  While the icing was warm I gently tilted cake in each direction to get full coverage of icing.

Hi Jennifer. I rated this 5 stars without even making it because I know this will be delicious. I do have a question about the icing. Will this icing harden up on the cake after sitting or will it have a smoother, softer consistency after sitting?

Thanks so much! The icing does harden pretty quickly after being removed from the heat. We love this cake!

The recipe for the cake says melt 3 candy bars but calls for 6. The 3 not melted get chopped up and added?

Hey There! Great question. Some candy bars are in the cake and some are in the icing. Hope that helps and hope you enjoy the cake as much as we do!

Hi! Today will be the first time I bake this. I’m so looking forward to sticking a fork in it!! You don’t specify what kind of flour. Do you use all purpose or self rising? Thanks!

Hi! Do you use unsalted or salted butter for this recipe? Also, the picture looks like you used a glass pan. Is this correct?

Hey There! I typically use unsalted butter. I do make this in a glass 9 x 13 pan because the only pan I have that size with a lid is glass. Hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do 🙂

HI Carol Dean again! I made the cake at the request of our granddaughter. It was so moist and tasty; just like we thought it would be! I am concerned about the sinking in the middle. It took up most of the cake. The taste wasn’t affected but our g-daughter is requesting it again for her birthday party. I really hate to serve a sunken cake! Plus it will need to be flat on top to support decorations. Any ideas will be great to remedy this. Thanks so much!

I made this, but I think I used the wrong size candy bars. It was so impossible to find the regular sizes any where. So could I please have the ozs of the candy bar.
Mine is to gooey, I feel as those you would have to eat it with a fork.
    Thank you, Sherrel
