Pepperoni can easily be substituted to make a more traditional Bubble Up Pizza Casserole too. The Country Cook has a similar Bubble Up Pizza recipe.

I’ve been trying to become more sophisticated, but let’s be honest, at the end of the day I LOVE a cheap and easy casserole for picky eaters like this Sausage Pizza Bubble Up.

This is a pizza casserole without pasta which is a great way to change up some of the popular meals we feed the kiddos often like Easy Pizza Pasta Bake and Chicken Cobble Casserole.

My husband would love to add more ingredients like mushrooms, onions, and peppers to this dish, which we could do to half of the pan.  I like that it is a versatile and easy bubble up casserole dish with several options.

I was talking to my mother-in-law about easy meal ideas and she shared this recipe.  It makes a big batch that could easily be cut in half, but we love having leftovers for easy workday lunches throughout the week.

Our son is home this summer and a small plate of this cheap and easy casserole makes a great snack for him.  He’s ten now and I can already tell that we’re going to need a lot more food as each year and growth spurt pass!

How to Make Bubble Up Pizza

Preheat oven to 400°F. Brown and drain sausage. Return sausage to skillet and stir in pizza sauce.

Cut up refrigerated biscuits into 6 to 8 pieces each and sprinkle in the bottom of a lightly greased 9 x 13-inch baking dish.

Pour meat and pizza sauce mixture over top of the unbaked biscuits. Bake for 20 minutes.

Remove from the oven and mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top. Bake an additional 5 to 10 minutes until biscuits are baked and cheese is melted.

If cheese is melted, but the biscuits still need to bake cover with foil and bake another 5 to 10 minutes.

Serve warm and enjoy!
