Easy Homemade Cornbread

Freshly baked cornbread speaks smoked meat slathered in bbq sauce, mac and cheese and Meaty Baked Beans.  Cornbread also reminds me of a holiday meal with Cornbread Dressing, an everyday chili meal with bread on the side or it’s perfect with Ham and Bean Soup served over a piece.

A friend shared their family’s homemade cornbread recipe.  While cornbread isn’t a regular item on our dinner rotation we love trying a variety of recipes.

This cornbread recipe is so easy to make we won’t need to keep a box mix on hand anymore.  Cornmeal plus basic baking ingredients can be quickly mixed up in less than 5 minutes and baked for 30 minutes.

Baking in a 450ºF oven forms a wonderful top crust.  For a soft top lower the oven temperature.
