Air Fryer Asparagus

The saltiness in soy sauce mixed with the bright flavors of garlic and ginger make a great sauce for asparagus! Toss in the air fryer basket with 7 to 8 minutes for roasted asparagus with a few crispy bites and this is a recipe you’ll crave!

Our Asian Marinated Asparagus has been one of our most popular recipes on Pinterest. So when we began using our Cuisinart Air Fryer & Toaster Oven we created a similar marinade for Air Fryer Mushrooms. We knew making Air Fryer Asparagus was the next logical side dish!

Having a fresh batch of roasted vegetables makes a meal so much more enjoyable and we like that the air fryer makes small batches so quick and easy. There is virtually no time required to preheat the air fryer toaster oven, so cooking is very quick and efficient.

We think of eating ham and asparagus in the spring. Our Asian Asparagus goes great with Farmhouse Ham Loaf or Ham Balls. We enjoy salmon and asparagus all year round. Chicken and steak are also on our table throughout the year. We also enjoy this asparagus served alongside our Instant Pot Mozzarella Chicken!

Making Frozen Asparagus in the Air Fryer

Frozen asparagus can also be made quickly in the air fryer. It is easier to make frozen asparagus with just oil, salt, pepper and granulated garlic, but the sauce can be added with some extra effort if desired.

Spread out one layer of asparagus evenly across the air fryer tray and cook on 350 degrees F for 3 – 4 minutes to warm it up. Use a spray can of olive, avocado or coconut oil to add a few spritzes of oil. Additional seasonings can be added at this time if desired.

To add the sauce have sauce mixed in a bowl and add slightly warmed asparagus to the bowl. Stir well and return asparagus pieces to the air fryer basket to finish cooking for another 6 – 7 minutes at 350 degrees F for a total cook time of around 10 minutes.

Tips and Tricks

  • If using an air fryer toaster oven line solid tray tightly with foil for easier cleanup
  • We like ground ginger and granulated garlic for this recipe because they stick to the asparagus better than the fresh options during air frying
  • Ensure asparagus is in a single layer in the air fryer basket
  • Shake the basket or stir the asparagus once during roasting

How to Make Air Fryer Asparagus

Wash asparagus and allow to dry while preparing the sauce.

Mix olive oil, garlic, ginger and soy sauce in a bowl. Stir in asparagus.

Use a slotted spoon to transfer asparagus to air fryer tray. Some of the sauce will drip through to the solid tray below which is why we like to cover it tightly with foil.

Set to 350 degrees F and air fry for 7-8 minutes. Watch closely near the end of frying time and remove asparagus at your preferred doneness.

Asparagus will go from nice cooked to crispy to burnt fairly quickly.

Serve warm with a nice piece of meat or fish. Enjoy!
