Dark Chocolate and Oatmeal Cookies

When I'm craving warm cookies and milk it's the hearty oats, rich cocoa flavor in the dark chocolate with a hint of sea salt in these Dark Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies that I dream of.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening butter flavored
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 cups old fashioned oats
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 10 ounce bag dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Mix shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla extract.  Beat until creamy.  
  • In a separate bowl stir together flour, salt, and baking soda. Slowly add to creamed mixture and stir well.
  • Add oatmeal and stir. Then fold in chocolate chips.  
  • Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350°F for 8-10 minutes.
