Caramel Apple Pie

This decadent pie with the apples sitting in a bed of caramels and sweetened condensed milk and a crumbly brown sugar crumb topping sprinkled on top!  Caramel Apple Pie with condensed milk makes an impressive fall dessert for the holidays!

Ingredients

  • 1 9" unbaked pie crust

Pie Filling

  • 6 cups thinly sliced apples
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 20 caramels about 5.5 oz or 1/2 a bag

Streusel

  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter cold

Instructions

  • Place oven rack in lowest position.  Preheat oven to 375°F.  Lay pie crust in pie pan and make a shape around the outside with your fingers. 
  • In a large bowl toss apples with 3 tablespoons flour and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
  • In a saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk and caramels.  Over medium heat, cook and stir until caramels melt and the mixture is smooth.  Immediately toss caramel mixture with apples, spoon into pie crust.
  • In a small bowl mix remaining 1/4 cup flour, brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.  Cut in slices of cold butter until crumbly and sprinkle over pie.  
  • Bake for 30 minutes, then cover edges with foil and bake for 10 - 20 minutes longer until entire pie is set.
