Ingredients

Peanut Butter Texas Sheet Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Peanut Butter Icing

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Peanut Butter Texas Sheet Cake

  • Using a large mixing bowl sift together flour, sugar, salt and baking soda; set aside.
  • In a sauce pan over medium heat combine butter, water and peanut butter. Stir occasionally to bring to a boil.
  • Pour peanut butter mixture into the flour mixture.
  • Combine eggs, vanilla and buttermilk; add to peanut butter mixture and mix well.
  • Spread into a greased 10x15 jelly roll pan.
  • Bake in an oven preheated to 350℉ for 15 to 20 minutes until a tooth pick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Peanut Butter Icing

  • Combine butter, peanut butter and milk in a saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil.
  • Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar and vanilla; mix well.
  • Work quickly and pour icing over warm cake. Spread out quickly and evenly with a butter knife and allow to set up.
