One Skillet Pasta with Sausage
A rich and creamy sauce compliments zesty Italian sausage to create a wonderful one skillet penne pasta meal!

- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 cup onion chopped
- 1 tablespoon garlic minced
- 16 ounces penne pasta
- 3 cups tomato juice
- 2 cups pasta sauce
- 1 1/2 cup whipping cream
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon parsley optional garnish
Brown sausage and drain fat.
Add onion to the skillet. Saute until translucent. Add garlic and cook an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
Add tomato juice, pasta sauce and whipping cream. Turn skillet to medium heat.
Stir in pasta. Cover and cook for 13 to 15 minutes. Stir occasionally.
Once pasta is tender sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top - cover 1 - 2 minutes until cheese is melted.
Can serve immediately or broil for 2-3 minutes to brown. Garnish with parsley and enjoy!
- Add a 1/4 cup of chicken broth or pasta sauce at a time if the pasta seems to be drying out.
- Stir in up to 3 cups of spinach when 5 minutes of cooking time remains.
