Easy Fruit Tray

Fruit trays are one of my favorite things to take along to big parties and potlucks.  People of all ages enjoy some type of fruit and this fruit dip is so easy.  In this article, I will share tips and ideas for How to Make a Fruit Tray!

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 gala apples
  • 2 golden delicious apples
  • 1 pound red seedless grapes
  • 1 pound green seedless grapes
  • 4 mandarin oranges peeled and divdied
  • 1 pint strawberries stems removed
  • 1 pint blueberries
  • 1 pineapple chopped
  • 2 kiwi peeled and sliced
  • 2 bananas optional

Instructions

  • Wash the grapes, take scissors and trim the stems to leave bunches with 3 to 5 grapes hooked on.
  • Wash apples.  Use an apple slicer, corer and divider to make apple preparation go quickly! Dip in pineapple juice if more than one hour from serving.
  • Wash strawberries and remove stems, may be served whole or quartered.
  • Chop pineapple and slice kiwi.
  • Wash any remaining fruit.
  • Begin arranging tray by placing largest pieces of fruit first.
  • Then place medium sized pieces of fruit followed by smaller pieces.
  • A couple rare or more expensive pieces may be placed on top for a decorative accent.
  • Serve immediately or store covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator or a cool place.

Notes

  • Dip apples and bananas in pineapple juice to prevent browning.  Pineapple juice will not have a negative effect on the flavor of the fruit.
  • Store bananas for up to a few hours in pineapple juice before serving.
  • Wash strawberries in their original container.  Drain and dry excess water off the bottom to make storage and transport easier.
  • Put fruit dip in the serving container and cover with plastic wrap to save set-up time.
  • If leaving the dip out for more than two hours serve in a glass bowl on ice to help keep cold.
