Ingredients

  • 5 cups angel food cake cut in bite-sized cubes
  • 1/4 cup cherry liqueur optional
  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 8 ounces Cool Whip thawed & divided
  • 21 ounce can cherry pie filling

Instructions

  • If desired sprinkle with 1/4 cup cherry liqueur over 5 cups angel food cake
  • In medium bowl mix 1 cup confectioners sugar and 8 ounces cream cheese. Beat until well blended.
  • Fold 8 ounces Cool Whip into creamed mixture.
  • In a trifle dish make two or three layers of cake cubes, creamed mixture and 21 ounce can cherry pie filling.
OR in a 9 x 13" glass dish layer half of cake cubes, spread creamed mixture, add a second layer of cake cubes and spoon pie filling over the top.
  • For best results refrigerate before serving.

Notes

  • Whipped topping can be substituted for a can of whipped cream or heavy whipping cream can be mixed up
  • I like to cut angel food cake into bite sized cubes and then cut those cubes in half to allow more flavors to mix in every bite
  • Other flavors of pie filling may be substituted
