Our Z Grills Smoker is perfect for making easy meals with less than 20 minutes of hands on time and effort.
A Z Grills Pellet Grill is much easier and less stressful to cook on than a gas grill. I did not expect this to be true, so I have been pleasantly surprised to experience this.
I was provided a ZGrills 700D3, however all opinions and experiences are my own. Our family share more reviews here.
Z Grills Review of Pellet Grill and Electric Smoker Model 700D3
So far our Z Grill Smoker has been easy to use and I don’t use that word lightly. We are very busy, probably overcommitted and this doesn’t take any extra time to make a meal.
When Z Grills reached out to offer and provide us a wood pellet grill smoker I jumped at the opportunity to test one of their most popular models.
I have a 700D3 which has a solid black lid. The 700D4E has a silver lid on a black smoker. Color of lid is the only difference between the 700D3 and 700D4E.
Using a smoker is much less intimidating and much easier for the home cook than I realized. The Z Grills Pellet Grill and Electric Smoker is easy to use with several popular cuts of meat being very hands off to make.
The magic of the electric panel is being able to select your temperature. Then the Z Grill maintains that temperature for the duration of the smoking time.
The 700 models come with thermometer probs that plug – in to the electric panel so you can always tell the internal temperature of the food that you’re cooking.
My husband has been very interested in making smoked meat at home, but I have been hesitant about the time commitment to learn how to use one as well as the investment. After testing out the Z Grills Pellet Grill I’m disappointed that I didn’t get a smoker years ago!
Why Z Grills Work
- The taste of smoked and wood fired food is amazing
- Easy for the typical home cook to use
- Makes restaurant quality food with less effort than expected
- Great for meal prepping several high quality meals
- An electric smoker maintains a consistent temperature, so there’s no flare ups or hot spots to deal with
- There’s so much room to store your wire brush, probes and other supplies in the cabinet under neath the smoker
Z Grill vs Traeger
The Z Grill is very comparable in function, size and shape to a Traeger. The biggest difference is price, the Z Grill is cheaper and more budget friendly for the same quality.
Z Grills is a grill manufacturer with over 30 years of experience within the industry. They have built pellet grills for other brands including Traeger, who they worked with for 7 years.
In 2017, they decided to develop their own brand and first brought Z Grills to the US market via a crowdfunding campaign. The launch was a huge success, causing quite a stir in the pellet grill market.
Z Grills Recipes:
The smoked meat has a smokehouse restaurant quality flavor. You really only need good meat and your favorite seasoning. Insert the probes and cook until the meat has reached a safe internal cooking temp. Allow to rest for 15 minutes and enjoy.
The first recipe we made on our Z Grill was a Whole Smoked Chicken.
We very quickly made spare ribs without a recipe, just cooking low and slow until tender.
And my kids absolutely love smoked hamburgers. Run through the start-up mode, preheat the smoker and put hamburgers on a piece of foil for about an hour.
I actually left to run errands, came home and lunch was ready! When I use a propane grill for hamburgers I have to babysit it the entire time for flare ups and hot spots. We LOVE this wood pellet grill!
Tips to Make The Smoker Last Longer
- Order a model with a cover. Our cover is very nice and helps protect our electric smoker from the weather.
- Keep the solid metal piece under the grill grates covered with heavy duty aluminum foil. Change as needed.
- Use a shop vac to suck the ashes out of the bottom of the smoker every couple weeks or every month depending on how often you use the smoker.
Using aluminum foil makes cleaning so much easier and protects the metal!
Is A Z Grill Worth the Money?
Without hesitation I recommend purchasing a Z Grill.
I look at it as a long term investment that will take years to pay off, but with proper maintenance and care there are so many wonderful meals to enjoy!
