Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
  • 10 ounces mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups chocolate Rice Crispy cereal
  • 3/4 cup peanut butter baking chips
  • 3/4 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Melt butter in large dutch oven pan over medium-high heat. Once the butter starts to melt add marshmallows.
  • Turn to low heat and stir until butter and marshmallows are combined. Then add peanut butter and stir often.
  • Once the mixture is combined remove from heat and stir in 2 to 3 cups of cereal at a time.
  • Pour into a greased 9 x 13" pan and spread evenly with wet fingers. Let cool before cutting and serving.
  • Melt peanut butter chips and vegetable oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Use microwave for 15-second intervals until melted. Use a tablespoon to drizzle over top of rice Krispie treats.

Notes

  • Mini marshmallows melt the quickest, but any shape of marshmallow can be used
  • I tested both name brand and generic chocolate crispy rice cereal and could not tell a difference
  • Peanut butter chips can be sprinkled on top instead of drizzling if you are in a hurry - the flavor will be the same, only the look will change
  • If you like the Ohio State University Buckeyes call these Buckeye treats and make them every time OSU plays ball!
