Hot Bacon Salad Dressing

Do you need a healthy side dish that still tastes great?  Bacon makes everything better, especially salad!  This hot bacon salad dressing is a delicious recipe that’s been in our family for years! #saladdressing

  • 1 pound fresh spinach we prefer baby spinach
  • 1/4 pound bacon
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • pinch pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 can canned beef broth


  • Wash and trim spinach if necessary.  Allow to dry.  
  • Saute bacon in skillet until crisp.  Drain on paper towel, crumble and set aside.
  • Saute onion in bacon drippings until soft.  Stir in vinegars, salt, pepper and sugar. 
  • Blend cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of the broth in a small cup.  Add to mixture in the skillet.  Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thickened.  
  • Pour over spinach, toss well.  Sprinkle with remaining bacon!
