My husband was craving a classic oatmeal cookie, so he made this old-fashioned oatmeal raisin cookie recipe from our family archives.  We agreed that this is the best Oatmeal Cookie we've ever eaten!  #cookies #cookierecipe #oatmealcookie

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening or butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup raisins seedless
  • 1 2/3 cup rolled oats


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Cream sugar and shortening together.  Add eggs, mix well.  Add milk, mix well.
  • Stir together flour, baking soda, and cinnamon.  Add slowly to creamed mixture.  Mix well.  Add raisins and oats and mix well.
  • Drop by teaspoon or cookie dough scoop onto a greased baking sheet.  Bake for 8-12 minutes.
