Oatmeal Butterscotch Delights

Butterscotch morsel cookies are unique in how wide they spread out on the baking sheet.  Be sure to give each spoonful of dough plenty or room to sprawl as the shortening spreads out making each cookie wide and thin.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 cup shortening
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups quick oats
  • 1 1/2 cups butterscotch chips

Instructions

  • Grease baking sheet and preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt together.
  • Blend sugars, shortening, eggs, vanilla and milk.
  • Add dry ingredients, mix well. Stir in oats and butterscotch chips.
  • Space 2 inches apart and bake at 350° for 12 - 15 minutes.
