  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 pound ground sirloin hamburger
  • 1 large can kidney beans
  • 1/2 cup green onions chopped
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup canned chunky tomatoes
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup celery chopped
  • 12 ounce can tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 cup carrot sticks chopped
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 3 cups cooked white northern beans
  • 1 cup small dried pasta we like Diavolo pasta
  • basil
  • oregano
  • thyme
  • rosemary


  • In a large pot brown sausage and beef. If using lean meat draining may not be necessary, if there is a lot of liquid, drain excess fat.
  • Add onions, garlic, celery, carrots, beans, tomatoes, paste and beef broth.
  • Add herbs, but prepare to taste and add more if needed before serving
  • Add several cups of water according to desired thickness of finished soup.
  • Simmer 2 hours. Add more water as needed.
  • Add noodles, salt and pepper to taste. Simmer until noodles are tender, about 10 minutes.
