Chocolate Spice Cake
Homemade cake with mild spices and cocoa in a bundt pan drizzled with white icing makes a beautiful Chocolate Spice Cake.
Servings 8 people
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Grease well a bundt or tube pan. Preheat oven to 375°F
Cream shortening with sugar then add cocoa and egg. Mix well.
Sift the flour, cinnamon, baking soda and salt together.
Add dry mixture to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
Add vanilla and mix well.
Bake 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
Let cool for 10 minutes. Place a serving plate or tray on top of pan. Carefully flip over, so cake site on tray and remove bundt pan.
