Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies
These chocolate thumbprint cookies are fun to make with kids around the holidays! Making a thumbprint to fill with icing, a kiss or jam is a fun Christmas tradition.
Servings 35 cookies
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 4 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 2/3 cup cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups confectioners sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 5 teaspoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Cream butter, sugar, egg yolk, milk and vanilla in a small mixing bowl.
Combine flour, cocoa and salt. Blend into creamed mixture.
Chill dour for an hour or firm enough to handle.
Prepare vanilla filling or filling of your choice.
Lightly grease baking sheet OR use a non-stick baking mat and place balls of dough on sheet.
Use a teaspoon or your thumb to make an aggressive indent in the center of each cookie.
Bake at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes or until set.
Remove from cookie sheet and place on a baking rack to cool and then ice.
