Homemade Cornbread tastes wonderful warm out of the oven. This made from scratch cornbread recipe is so easy it's a keeper!
Servings 9 pieces
- 1 cup flour
- 3/4 cup cornmeal
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg slightly beaten
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons bacon drippings or vegetable oil
Lightly grease 8 x 8 x 2 pan and preheat oven to 450°F
In medium bowl stir flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt together.
In small bowl mix slightly beaten egg, milk and bacon drippings.
Stir egg mixture into flour mixture.
Bake for 25 - 30 minutes.
